How to Do SEO in the IdeaSoft Admin Panel
For e-commerce sites, SEO (search engine optimization) is an important strategy for achieving higher rankings and more traffic in organic search results. If you use an e-commerce platform like IdeaSoft, optimizing your site becomes much easier. In this article, I’ll share some tips on doing SEO through the IdeaSoft panel. (The panel is in Turkish, so I’ve included the original menu names.)

You can access your general SEO settings via Ayarlar (Settings) → Genel Ayarlar (General Settings) → SEO Ayarları (SEO Settings), where you’ll find the general settings IdeaSoft offers. Here you’ll first see the sections for creating a Google Sitemap and for Google Merchant surveys. You can find the steps for creating a sitemap in IdeaSoft among my other articles.

1. Search Engine Services
This menu appears when you first open the SEO settings. So how do you use it? The search engine services submenu contains, in order:
- Site verification with a meta tag
- Site tracking & remarketing code
- Order tracking & conversion code
- Cart tracking code
- Product tracking code
- Homepage tracking code
- Membership tracking code
- Robots.txt
1.1 Site Verification With a Meta Tag
When you sign up for Google Search Console, Google gives you a code to verify that you manage the site you added. This code must be placed in a specific field so it’s added to your site.
Meta codes from other search engines or similar services should be added to the same field. For example, if you want to add both Google and Bing meta tags, write them next to each other without spaces.
1.2. Site Tracking & Remarketing Code
When you sign up for Google Analytics, you receive a code to track your site’s visitors. Add these codes to the box in the site tracking and remarketing section.
For marketing channels you use for site analytics and promotion — such as Google Analytics or Meta (Facebook) — to collect data from your site, you need to add a tracking code. Add the codes provided by the tool you want to use; they need to run on every page of your site.
1.3. Order Tracking and Conversion Code
The field for order conversion tracking contains a code that only appears on the page shown after an order is completed successfully. Its purpose is to track the purchase behavior of visitors who come to your site through your ads.
Adding a code here isn’t required. But by adding the order tracking code provided by your ad platform (for example, Google Ads), you can see whether someone who clicked your Google ads went on to buy on your site. This lets you measure ad performance and update your strategy accordingly.
1.4. Cart Tracking Code
The code field for tracking products added to the cart is designed to run on the cart page. With a code here, you can track purchases that weren’t completed and stayed at the cart stage.
For example, if you want to track products added to the cart on an e-commerce site, you can add a code here. This lets you see which products visitors add to their carts, which ones they buy and which ones they leave behind without purchasing. This data can be useful when defining sales strategies or managing campaigns. Variables you can use in the cart tracking code:
- {cartUrl}: Cart URL
- {cartNumber}: Cart value for the specific cart
- {totalProduct}: Total number of products
- {total}: Total order amount
- {email}: Email address of the customer placing the order
- {productId}: Product ID
- {productStockCode}: Product stock code
- {productName}: Product name
- {productCategory}: Product category
- {productPrice}: Product price excluding VAT
- {productCurrency}: Product currency
- {productTax}: Product VAT amount
- {productImage}: Product image
- {productUrl}: Product URL
- {memberId}: Member ID, if the user is logged in
1.5. Product Tracking Code
This is where you add the product tracking code used to track product visits. Using tools such as Meta Pixel or Google remarketing here, you can track which products your visitors are interested in.
For example, knowing which products are visited most and which get less attention on an e-commerce site can help with product selection and stock management.
If you don’t use Google Ads or similar ad networks, you can leave the Google order tracking and membership tracking fields empty; you may not need them.
You can use the following variables in this field:
- {productId}: Product ID
- {productStockCode}: Product stock code
- {productName}: Product name
- {productCategory}: Product category
- {productPrice}: Product price excluding VAT
- {productCurrency}: Product currency
- {productTax}: Product VAT amount
- {productImage}: Product image
- {productUrl}: Product URL
- {email}: Member email address
- {memberId}: Member ID, if the user is logged in
1.6. Homepage Tracking Code
This code field lets you track data specifically on your homepage. Codes added here only run on the homepage. You can use these variables:
- {email}: Member email
- {memberId}: Member ID, if the user is logged in
1.7. Membership Tracking Code
To track member registrations, add tracking codes here that should run only on the registration completion page.
1.8. Robots.txt
The robots.txt file sits in the site’s root directory and is one of the first things crawlers such as Googlebot check when they visit. By default, URLs such as your admin panel links are blocked from crawling in this file. You can also add other URLs on your site that you don’t want crawled. To view your site’s robots.txt, simply go to www.yoursite.com/robots.txt.
2. Homepage SEO Settings
The Ayarlar → S.E.O → Anasayfa SEO Ayarları (Homepage SEO Settings) page lets you enter a title, keywords and description for your homepage only. You can’t configure category, brand or product pages here. In this section you can access:
- Title
- Meta keywords
- Description
2.1. Title (Meta Title)
A user who opens your homepage will see the text you enter here in the browser tab, and it will also appear in search results. You can boost brand awareness by including your company name. For e-commerce sites, it’s also recommended to add keywords related to the products you sell — for example, “Best Tech Products – ABC E-Commerce.” The meta title should be roughly 200–561 pixels, or about 30–60 characters.

With a recent update, Google indicated that including the brand name in the title isn’t very influential. Still, it’s worth using.
2.2. Meta Keywords
Note that Google doesn’t use the meta keywords tag for ranking, but some platforms and smaller search engines may still read it. Here you can enter general keywords related to the products you sell. Keep homepage keywords as general as possible. For example, if you sell vacuum cleaners, irons and food processors, don’t add these products directly; since they belong to the “small home appliances” category, use a general term like “small home appliances.” Specific keywords are better suited to product or category pages. Separate keywords with commas, and keep in mind that 15–20 keywords may be too many and look like spam, so choose them carefully.
2.3. Meta Description
The description that appears directly with the title in search results can, when used well, encourage visitors to click through to your site. That’s why writing a relevant, compelling description is very important. If you want your meta description to show in full, keep it at roughly 400–985 pixels, or about 70–155 characters.
3. Category Page SEO Settings
To set the title, keywords and description for each category on your site, use Ayarlar → S.E.O → Kategori (Category). The menus follow the same layout as the homepage SEO settings.
The title field in the category section is where you create titles for categories. The text you enter here forms the title of all your categories. However, not every category suits the same title. For example, if you have a “Perfume” category, you’ll want a title about perfume; likewise, a “Stationery” category needs a title about stationery.
To solve this, you can use variables in the category title field so each category gets its own title automatically:
- Write {kategori_adi} (category name) to use the category’s name as the title. The system will then automatically use the name of whichever category is opened.
- If you have a category called “T-shirts” but want to show a different title, use the {kategori_baslik} (category title) variable. To edit categories, go to Ürünler (Products) >> Kategoriler (Categories), click the category and enter your text in the Etiket Başlığı (tag title) field.
4. Brand Pages
Brand pages also have title, keyword and description fields. So what should you add to brand pages to increase traffic? Top or bottom content, of course. Adding top or bottom content to brands and categories increases your keyword coverage and therefore your traffic.
How to Add Top or Bottom Content
- Open the brand or category you want to edit.
- Switch the top or bottom content from “Kapalı” (Off) to Mobile and Desktop, Mobile, or Desktop.
- Enter your content in the field that appears and save your changes.

5. Product Pages
Product pages also come with title, keyword and description fields. Titles should generally include the product name, brand and category. In some cases, though, you may want more effective titles with extra text — for example, highlighting free shipping or promotions. In that case, use the {urun_baslik} (product title) variable to add extra text to the title.
If you’ve created a custom title with {urun_baslik} and want to use it for a specific product, select the product in the Ürünler (Products) tab and click edit. Go to the SEO bilgileri (SEO information) tab and enter the extra text in the Etiket Başlığı field. This way you can add extra text to that product’s title and make it stand out more.
I hope I’ve shared my experience clearly. Wishing everyone days full of visitors.
